What you would do

We're looking for a creative, entrepreneurial, collaborative, and highly motivated leader to help expand our synthetic biology R&D and commercial portfolio. The candidate must have a familiarity with synthetic biology and how it is deployed in systems in use by the DoD and the intelligence community. We seek someone able to understand component technologies, lab experimentation, software, and systems, and to craft an integrated plan to lead BBN forward in this area. The candidate would need to be highly conversant with system engineers and other stakeholders within the government and other business areas in Raytheon.

The ideal candidate has a strong background with DARPA, IARPA, or similar advanced research organizations, and relevant leadership experience and operational understanding. Candidate should have a long-term interest in developing business skills, scope of business responsibility, and organizational breadth.

What you need

A Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics,, Science, Engineering or related discipline and 10 years of prior experience or an advanced degree and a minimum of 7 years of experience

Ability to shape and lead innovative research efforts in forward leaning technology areas

Proven track record in formulating and leading research programs, writing successful proposals, standing up research teams, and executing research projects successfully

Ability to provide constructive feedback on a diverse range of biology projects

Hands on experience with business and program management in technical areas

Proven experience developing successful relationships with government customers and decision-makers

Position may require some travel; expected around 10% of the time

Willingness to apply for and be granted a US Government security clearance. This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Desired skills or experience

A PhD degree is highly desired

Active US Top Secret clearance

Deep technical expertise and experience in Synthetic Biology research

Biology lab experience or familiarity

Typically requires:

A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years

prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree

in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited

by local laws/regulations.

The salary range for this role is 112,000 USD - 236,000 USD; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
